Type Locality and Naming

It was named by Lin Baoyu and Qiu Hongrong in 1983. The type section is located at the southwest slope, approximately 1 km southeast of Kede Village, Pazhuo District, Dingri County, Xizang Zizhiqu.

Synonym: (嘎样组) ; Xia Daixiang et al. (1997) correlated this formation with the lower part of Pulu Fm and considered this formation name as an invalid name. We retain this formation herein tentatively for further investigation.


Lithology and Thickness

The formation, 20 m in thickness, is dominated by grey thick-bedded-to-massive siliceous banded limestone with 5 m thick black grey thin-bedded limestone.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The conformable contact onto the underlying Kede Fm

Upper contact

The conformable contact with the overlying Pazhug Fm is observable.

Regional extent

It is exposed at Pazhuo area in Dingri County.

Fossils

It yields rich cephalopod, conodont, etc.: conodonts Ozarkodina remsheidensis eosteinhornensis, O. excavata excavata; cephalopod Kopaninoceras jucundum, etc.
